TL;DR

Architecture clients still come mostly from built work people can see and from being recommended. An assistant is a newer layer on top. We scanned four Dubai architecture firm homepages on 7 October 2026 with JavaScript off. None blocked AI crawlers and every crawler got the same page a browser got. Readable text ran from 42 to 670 words. One firm's llms.txt file lists 108 posts and 79 of the titles are gambling pages.

Ask how to get architecture clients and the advice online is about portfolios, referrals and renders. Fair enough. But a developer or a villa owner now also asks an assistant who to hire, and the assistant can only use what it can read. So on 7 October 2026 I scanned four Dubai architecture firm homepages the way a crawler sees them: raw HTML, JavaScript off, no login.

I expected thin pages. I found something stranger in one firm’s llms.txt file.

How do architecture firms get clients?

Mostly through built work people can see and through recommendations from developers and past clients. Autocomplete shows owners typing “how to get architecture clients”, “how to get more architecture clients” and “how do architects get clients” (UAE locale, 7 October 2026). The same check returned nothing for Dubai or AI versions of those questions, so I took the plain question.

I picked four firms from a web search for Dubai architecture and engineering consultancies. I could not load a fifth, so this is four. Here is what came back.

What was measuredResult across four firms
Readable words with JavaScript off42, 133, 405 and 670
Sites returning a different page to AI crawlers0 of 4
Sites naming an AI bot in robots.txt0 of 4
Sites with FAQ (question and answer) schema on the homepage0 of 4
Sites serving a real llms.txt file1 of 4
Homepage headings phrased as a buyer’s question0 of 4

No firm is named. This is a finding about the category. Naming one firm’s weak result in public would be a poor way to treat people we may work with.

What does an assistant read on a Dubai architecture homepage?

Not much, on three of the four. With JavaScript off the homepages held 42, 133, 405 and 670 words. Architecture sites lean on full screen image galleries and scripts that load the text afterward, so the page a person sees is far fuller than the page a crawler receives.

The smallest of the four held 42 words. Nothing blocked the crawlers: the three AI user agents I tried each received the same page as a normal browser. The gap came from how the page was built.

Can an architecture firm’s llms.txt file go wrong?

Yes, and one did. Of the four sites, one served a real llms.txt, the plain text file that points a crawler at a firm’s content. It listed 108 posts. A keyword check on the titles for words such as slot, casino and betting matched 79 of them, and more were betting pages in Korean and Hungarian that my check did not count. The firm’s homepage carried none of this text.

I do not know how it got there. A plugin, a compromised blog or an old agency account are all possible. What I can say is what the file shows: a convention built to guide an assistant to a firm’s best pages was pointing it at gambling. Nobody on the design team would ever see it, because nobody opens that file.

Two other sites answered /llms.txt with an ordinary web page and one returned a 404. Nothing requires the file. If you have one, open it and read it.

Why does the feed matter if the website is readable?

Because a readable website is only a starting point. An assistant looks for recent and specific material. A practice that posts a completed villa on Instagram and a project note on LinkedIn produces exactly that: this typology, this plot, this month. A practice that last posted in the spring has an empty feed and nothing fresh to quote. Same neglect, two symptoms.

Autocomplete shows demand for “architecture firm instagram” and “best architecture firm instagram accounts” on 7 October 2026. Owners are looking at feeds, so the feed is both a shop window and source material.

Does any of this change whether a buyer clicks through?

Fewer buyers visit a result page when an AI summary sits above the list. The independent evidence is thinner than most marketing blogs suggest. The study worth citing is Pew Research Center, published 22 July 2025, covering 68,879 queries from 900 US adults in March 2025. With an AI summary present, users clicked a traditional result on 8% of visits against 15% without one. Google disputes the methodology. The sample is American.

What holds up despite the dispute is narrow. If a buyer asks an assistant for an architect and yours is not in the answer, you were not in that conversation.

What should a Dubai architecture firm check first?

Open your homepage with JavaScript switched off and read what is left. Then open yourdomain.com/llms.txt and see whether it is a real file and whether every line is yours. Both take under a minute.

The free AI check runs a version of this on your own site so you see your own numbers. After that, look at your feed. If the last project post is months old, that gap is the first thing to fix.

The honest caveat

A scan of four sites tells you what a crawler received on one day. It does not tell you whether an assistant would name your practice over another, because nobody outside those companies publishes how that choice is made. Anyone who says otherwise is selling something. We can show whether you have given an assistant something to find. Nothing here promises a ranking or a citation.

FAQ

How do architecture firms get clients in Dubai?

Mostly through built work people can see and through recommendations from past clients and developers. A feed of completed projects does the showing. In a scan of four Dubai firm sites on 7 October 2026, what varied most was how much an assistant could read on the firm's own homepage.

Can an architecture firm's llms.txt file go wrong?

Yes. One of four Dubai firm sites scanned on 7 October 2026 served an llms.txt listing 108 posts. Our keyword check matched 79 titles to gambling pages, and more were betting pages in other languages. The file is meant to guide a crawler. Here it points at material that has nothing to do with architecture.

Does Instagram help an architecture firm get found?

It helps buyers see built work, and autocomplete shows owners typing 'architecture firm instagram' on 7 October 2026. It also gives an assistant recent, specific material to read. Nobody outside the assistant companies publishes how they choose, so no feed can promise a mention or a ranking.
